No one likes change, especially when it comes to upgrading a system they know. Maybe that's why many people put off upgrading Windows for so long, but are you aware of all the benefits?

The performance of your old system may be just right for your needs, and so you see no reason to change it, it's working just fine!

On the other hand, there are people who are excited about every update and they can't wait for new versions. Either way, this article will be useful to everyone, because we see Windows 11 as an opportunity to learn and grow with technological progress.

We've been using Microsoft Windows for the past 30 years, and while Windows 11 looks much simpler than its predecessor in every way, it's a cut above in performance and you can't fully utilize its potential without knowing about the various features.

Organize your widgets

Windows 11's new widget feature isn't the update that the vast majority of Windows fans wished for, but you can make it user-friendly and it doesn't take much action to personalize it. Simply click the Widgets icon (open the widget interface in the left corner of the taskbar where you see the real-time weather icon.

Then click the "+" button in the upper right corner of the panel to see all the categories of widgets you can pin.

You can also customize a widget by hovering your mouse over the widget in the upper right corner to open a pop-up menu. Depending on the widget, you can resize it or set other options to your liking.

Try out each widget and make it show the information that is important to you. The widget panel loads quickly enough to save you time searching for information in your web browser. If you don't like the widget bar, you can also turn it off by right-clicking on the taskbar, selecting Taskbar Options, and turning off the Widgets switch.

Choose your preferred web browser

Microsoft Edge, the standard and pre-installed browser in Windows 11, is a favorite web browser because of its vertical tabs and features. However, there are other web browsers that continue to improve in their features. Google Chrome remains the most popular browser, and Mozilla Firefox remains a decent choice for slower systems. If you're a tinkerer and prefer something more sophisticated, try Vivaldi or Opera.

There's also Brave, a privacy-focused browser, if you don't like the tracking features that Chrome and Edge have. Try all the browsers and choose your favorite from them so you can start doing other things like organizing your bookmarks.

EarTrumpet is a small but very handy program for Windows 11 that gives you extra control over your computer's sound volume.

In particular, you can control the sound levels of different active programs. For example, if you are playing, chatting, and listening to music at the same time, you can quickly change what you hear most often.

  • Download and install the free EarTrumpet app from the Microsoft Store.

To customize the user experience, right-click the icon and choose Settings > General. In the next window, you can set shortcuts to open the taskbar, mixer, and settings.

If you use more than one display with your desktop or laptop, there are two things you need to do with Windows 11: "organize" your displays and choose your "primary" display.

In Settings > System > Display, you can arrange your monitors so that your cursor moves naturally and smoothly from one screen to the next.Put your displays next to each other: If you use one display to the right of another, put them next to each other in Windows so that you can move your mouse from one to the other.
