Technology giant IBM will suspend hiring for positions that can be replaced by artificial intelligence.

American tech giant IBM plans to suspend hiring for positions that it believes could be replaced by artificial intelligence in the coming years.

This was stated by the company's CEO Arvind Krishna in an interview with Bloomberg.

We are talking about auxiliary units employing about 26 thousand people, including, for example, the HR department.

"I can well imagine that 30% of these jobs will be replaced by artificial intelligence or automated within a five-year period," Krishna said.

The company currently employs about 260 thousand people. It continues to hire developers as well as employees who directly interact with customers.

According to the World Economic Forum, over the next five years, artificial intelligence technologies will lead to the reduction of 26 million jobs worldwide. Overall, the changes will affect one in four jobs.
